Just another day, just another Karen. Yes, while we’ve had a flurry of overly demanding and entitled women recently, from narcissists to racists to even CEOs, another Karen has been spotted in the suburbs of North Carolina. While she may not be as egregious as some of the other women we’ve seen lately, she does use the n-word directed towards a POC, which is incredibly rude and unacceptable. The awkward exchange, while brief, was caught on camera and shared to social media.
First things first, the one-minute clip is accompanied by a short description that reads, “Woman accused of dropping the N word…” and takes place in a suburb in North Carolina, as confirmed by the woman’s vehicle’s numberplate. Off the bat, the Karen in question, who is sporting a large white hoodie and blue jeans, starts off in a defensive manner, stating, “I have plenty of black friends.” before yelling, “Yeah, you’re a f***ing n*****” though it’s worth noting that the second word she utters is bleeped out. It does appear that she says the n-word, however.
“If she says it again, I’m gonna turn…” the camerawoman declares, pointing her finger at a second woman who is stood with the Karen. With frustration in her voice, the woman recording then reveals the Karen’s house number, though the full address is not included in the footage. “Your mama’s an a**hole!” the Karen fires. To this, the cameraman exclaims, “Uh-huh. She called me a n****r. This is the licence plate. She going on social media.”
“Do you think I care?” the North Carolina Karen replies, shrugging her shoulders. “Say it again. I’m a what?” demands the POC recording the footage. “I just did! I just did! I did.” yells the Karen, before gesturing towards the word on her hoodie, which reads, “NOPE not today“. The woman next to the Karen then exclaims, “Get in your car and just leave!“
The footage then cuts to a police officer who has arrived at the scene to deal with the ruckus, and is chatting to the Karen and her friend. “See? She said black people get the benefit of the doubt.” expresses the camerawoman. Visibly irate, the Karen shouts, “I’m not racist! I am not racist! Don’t ever call me racist, sir!” The officer calmly asks what happened during the buildup, before the footage cuts and comes to a close. According to the camerawoman’s final words in the video, however, “Nothing was the build up, I put down the window ’cause she’s like, I don’t know.“
Unsurprisingly, viewers have been critical of the Karen’s language in the video, though there are some who question what occurred before the woman began recording. One Redditor chipped in with, “I like the officer’s response of just “ok stop being racist for a second. what started all this?” Then the filmer yells something like “there was no buildup I just rolled down my window-” And then it cuts off. Where’s the rest of it? I want the whole drama“

Every racist video starts with “I have plenty of black friends”

While it’s unclear whether the Karen was charged for her “explicit” words and unruly conduct, here’s hoping that she never uses the n-word again, in public or otherwise.
