A lovely North Carolina man has become an internet sensation thanks to his odd request in the middle of the night. With a piece of bread in hand, he decided to ask his neighbor for mayonnaise. The exchange was successful, and millions have seen the clip.

TikTok user kimberlymbroadfield (Kimberly) shared the video of the unusual interaction, recorded by her Ring camera. Her neighbor, Henny, is seen at Kimberly’s door, talking with her husband. Henny, of course, knew that what he was about to ask was unconventional, to say the least.

“Hey man, I know this is weird as hell,” Henny said in the video before asking if they had “any mayonnaise.” Meanwhile, he had bread in his hand, ready to be spread with the controversial condiment.

Kimberly’s husband started laughing with Kimberly. So did Henny, who admitted that his request was “weird.” While weird, the Broadfields generously gave Henny some mayo, and the ecstatic man finally got his wish granted. According to the couple, this was their third interaction with Henny.

Viral Clip, Reactions, Follow-Ups

The innocent clip was shared online. In just three days, it was seen by more than six million people. Everyone in the comments fell immediately in love with Henny, and also applauded the heartwarming interaction.

“I want this to be normalized,” one user said. Another one commented, “Definitely buy him a jar of Mayo for Christmas. Wrap it up all fancy too!” A third one added, “He brought the bread so yall won’t think he’s lying.”

In a follow-up video, Henny talked with Kimberly’s wife, saying that they “locked in on that mayo.” He had already seen the clip going viral, and he was both grateful for the gesture and amazed at the clip’s virality.

Then, Kimberly posted a video in which she described Henny as a wonderful North Carolina neighbor. Apparently, his odd request comes after continuous acts of kindness, such as volunteering to take down their trash for them.

The Broadfields, Henny, and his girlfriend are good friends now, a display of what great “neighborly behavior” should look like. While it is hated by many and loved by some, mayonnaise was, ultimately, what forged this friendship. Credits where credit is due.
