One thing we don’t need to be doing here in America is condoning ICE. The lack of accountability, the abusive tactics, and the dehumanization that ICE displays as they rip immigrant families apart says so much about this organization. Unfortunately, a North Carolina motorsports company decided recently that they actually agree with ICE and the way they treat immigrants in America. Because of this, they teamed up in a partnership with ICE to provide vehicles to them.
Erica (@ericathechampion) shows the news article on her TikTok, explaining how Charlotte company Hendrick Motorsports supports ICE in a truly disgusting way. The motorsports company recently signed a partnership contract for an astounding $2 million several months ago. Now, Erica says, “I guess we know who to boycott” and instructs others to draw their support from this company.
The partnership really isn’t surprising, when you think about it. Hendrick Motorsports teams up with Nascar on the daily for its manufacturing needs. Nascar has, inherently, been known to be racist in its past. The partnership with ICE allows for the organization to receive 25 Chevrolet Tahoe SUVs that can be used to conduct ICE business. So, you’ll be seeing these SUVs driving around major cities and collecting immigrants off the street for deportation. This happens all in the name of keeping crime off the streets, according to our President dearest.
Hendrick Motorsports tried to say that they stay out of the business of customers after a sale is made. In their own words, “We do not participate in or control how agencies equip, brand, or use vehicles after purchase.” Of course. It’s not really a huge surprise if you know anything about how Nascar and its affiliate companies operate. Due to Nascar’s roots being in the south, you’ll see them associated with the Confederate flag. This is so proudly displayed at so many events. On top of that, an investigation took place in 2020 when driver Bubba Wallace was found to have a noose in his driver’s stall. Diversity and Nascar definitely never went hand in hand, but racism has sure reared its ugly head.
So many commenters on Erica’s post disagreed boycotting, saying that it was their right to sell the vehicles to ICE. It may be their right, but that doesn’t make it right in the least. One commenter reported, “It’s so hard buying car parts as someone who follows current events.” It’s good to stay aware of companies who fail to support ALL Americans, even our own immigrants.
