A North Carolina woman caught a couple repeatedly feeding alligators in the area, an illegal and dangerous act. After several weeks, she decided to walk over to the bridge and tell them to stop. But she didn’t expect them to ignore her and then confront her, even after she told them it was illegal.
Kate (@kudokate) confronted a couple for feeding alligators in North Carolina for weeks. According to Kate, she couldn’t just sit around and let it happen without saying something. As she tells her audience, “The gators in this pond are known to cross the street where my home is located.” She adds, “Alligators have also been put down because they get too comfortable with humans and are deemed a danger.” As such, she walked toward the couple and their golf cart to let them know this was illegal.
In Kate’s video, she walks up to the couple and asks them if they’re feeding an alligator. They try to deny it and say they’re feeding the turtles, but Kate knows better because she watched them. She asks, “You guys know it’s highly illegal to feed alligators, right? It’s against the law and it’s also super dangerous.” The couple nods at her and turns back to keep feeding the alligators. Kate explains that alligators walking through the area make it dangerous for her children, and that they’re putting children’s lives in danger. The woman turns to Kate and yells, “No, I’m not!”
The woman tells Kate to “leave me the [expletive] alone!” Kate calls them “idiots” and keeps yelling, telling them what they’re doing is illegal. As they get back in their golf cart, yelling at her, Kate exclaims, “I’m calling the cops. You people are stupid idiots.” As the man tries to tell her that they’re not feeding an alligator, Kate pans her camera to the pond and sees the alligator in the water right next to them, clearly coming over for food.
Kate states, “You both are idiots. Do you even live in this community?” The man refuses to answer, even after she tells him she’s calling the police. As she walks away, they flip her off and get back in their golf cart. Kate calls them names and shouts out, “Look at the laws, you dumb [expletive]!”
The video immediately sparked attention from viewers sharing their opinions on what unfolded in Kate’s video. One commenter urged, “Call the police girl, they will 100% get in trouble.” Another added, “Please follow up with the appropriate authorities! They shouldn’t feel this comfortable to do that. And I have a feeling dumb and dumber are gonna come back to do it again.”
One commenter, however, believed that it could have been handled differently. She asked, “Why does this have to be on camera? Why can’t you just talk to them?” Kate explained that she started recording to catch them in progress so she could show the police. She added, “When the conversation started going left, I kept it rolling. This was definitely not my best moment!” But one commenter added, “No need to explain yourself. You’re 100 percent in the right.” Others agreed that Kate handled the situation as well as she could have.
