A North Carolina woman wasn’t about to let it slide after checking her doorbell camera and discovering that her neighbor had left a bag of trash on her valet trash bin instead of dealing with it herself. The woman shared the footage on TikTok, showing her neighbor coming up the staircase carrying a drink and a white plastic bag. Once she reached the walkway, she quickly placed the bag on top of the trash bin sitting outside the woman’s home before continuing to her own apartment.
Unfortunately for the neighbor, the entire thing happened right in front of a Blink camera.
The woman said she had been asleep at the time and didn’t discover the mystery bag until she got up the following morning. Not knowing who had left it there, she initially picked it up and moved it closer to her neighbor’s side before going about her day.
It wasn’t until later that she checked her camera footage and discovered exactly where the trash had come from.
The woman said that she went back outside, picked up the bag for a second time and returned it to the neighbor who had left it there, this time hanging it from her door handle.
North Carolina Woman Reveals She Could Have Been Fined Over the Trash
In a follow-up video, the woman explained that what might have seemed like a small inconvenience could potentially have cost her money. According to the woman, her apartment complex’s valet trash service can charge residents for loose trash left outside or improperly placed in their bins.
She said she already pays $1,800 a month in rent along with another $25 for trash service and wasn’t interested in potentially being charged over somebody else’s garbage.
What made the situation even more irritating, she said, was that this apparently wasn’t the first time she had dealt with something like this from her neighbor.
Netizens React to the North Carolina Neighbor Drama
On TikTok, plenty of people who watched the video said they understood why the woman wasn’t willing to let it go easily.
“Some people just love to do little things like this purposely to irritate and annoy people. I hate it,” one viewer wrote. Another asked, “What made her think that was OK, the disrespect no ma’am.”
Someone else couldn’t get over the fact that the neighbor did it within view of a camera, writing, “On camera too, like these type of people have no shame. just straight up entitlement.” A fourth person added, “She could’ve took it inside her house I don’t understand why she did that.”
A few people, however, did not think the abandoned trash warranted quite so much outrage. “God yall get upset about trash now,” one netizen commented, while another said, “Lord people make a big deal out of everything.”
A third offered a different way of handling it altogether. “Maybe Im too nice, but what’s wrong with just putting it in the trash yourself. Then addressing boundaries with her later?” they commented.
In a later update, the woman said she ultimately decided to take the matter to management. She revealed in the comments that she went to the leasing office and showed staff the camera footage in person.
According to her, management issued her neighbor a lease violation notice on the spot and assured her that she would not be fined over the trash.
