We’ve all seen all sorts of wild scenarios involving sports, but one of the most recent and wildest involves a Northville High School basketball coach pulling the hair of one of his players. On Reddit, a user shared a video of a high school basketball match between Northville and La Fargeville, New York, showing a coach pulling a student’s hair just because the team lost. As expected, the school fired the coach after this but seeing this shocked everyone, especially since the one affected was a minor.
CantStopPoppin is the user who shared the video on Reddit. In it, we can see a group of Northville High School students at a basketball match and their coach approaching to pull the hair of one of the players. In the video, the affected girl, Hailey, is seemingly crying before the coach arrives. Zullo, the former team’s coach, walks behind her and pulls her hair. Quickly, another player stands up for Hailey. According to the former coach in a statement with News10, he pulled Hailey’s hair because she had cursed at him moments before.
While the video ends after that, the coach was fired after this despicable behavior. He released a statement yesterday to News Channel 10 apologizing to Hailey and those affected.
“I deeply regret my behavior following the loss to La Fargeville Friday night in the Class D state championship game. I want to offer my sincerest apologies to Hailey and her family, our team, the good folks at Northville Central Schools, and our community. As a coach, under no circumstance is it acceptable to put my hands on a player, and I am truly sorry.”
While he apologized, he wasn’t safe from the anger of many Redditors this weekend.
What has to be going through someone’s mind to even do something like this?

Good on her teammate standing up for her.

I wonder what other abuse goes unnoticed.

Fortunately, the school fired the coach quickly, and he won’t be harming any other students in the future. Zullo is currently facing harassment charges.
