It’s no secret that the New York State Young Republicans Club was revealed to be quite the vile organization, as its members were outed as being racist, antisemitic, and misogynistic, among other things. This shocking discovery was made by their private messages being leaked to the public, exposing just how indiscreet these political campaign leaders actually were. Knowing what kind of people made up the club, it came as a surprise to no one that the group had spent tens of thousands of dollars during a get-together, only to leave it unpaid.
According to Syracuse.com, the New York State Young Republicans Club had spent a weekend partying at a Syracuse hotel, with a bill that accumulated over $23,000. The members had racked up this outrageous sum during their luxurious experience, then left without paying the bill. Goes to show that not only did they lack morals as future politicians, but they also lacked the decency to pay for a hotel’s meals and services. Not to mention, some online users are calling it out as plain theft.
This unpaid hotel bill incident happened before the club disbanded, of course, yet it begs the question: What other immoral or even criminal things did the group members get up to in the past? Whatever the case, plenty of people across the internet weren’t the least bit surprised that this was reported. “Of course they did!” exclaimed a Facebook commenter. “Not surprised,” agreed another. Several took jabs at the Trump administration, similar to the remarks made by the New York governor addressing the Republican group. “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree,” said a Redditor. “Straight out of Trump’s playbook,” added a second.
Ironically, some Republican politicians still tried to criticize the Democrats after the mess that the New York State Young Republicans Club caused. Politico reported that New York GOP chair Ed Cox remarked that “Republicans deliver accountability by immediately removing those who use this sort of rhetoric from the positions they hold…Unlike the Democrat Party.” Many are confident that this tasteless and unapologetic behavior is inspired by those in the White House.
