Oakland Security Guard Yells at Amazon Delivery Drivers in Racist Argument: ‘Not OK’

They didn’t need to be treated like that

There’s no shortage of evil and vile people in this world. A Latin woman completing Amazon Flex deliveries with her husband was the target of a racist tirade by a security guard in Oakland, California. The scene is set right outside of what appears to be a hotel or apartment building, with various people passing by, witnessing, and consequently, not doing anything about it. I wish that there were fewer people in this world you relied on making everyone else’s day so much worse.

In the above video, Karen Cruz records a black security officer in Oakland, California, as he repeatedly tells her to get out of his country. The back and forth must have escalated to a point where Cruz felt as though she wasn’t safe, considering the video evidence. What’s really interesting about the video and the guard in particular is that at one moment, Cruz speaks in Spanish, which he is able to understand. If he is so against this woman speaking a foreign language in the United States, then why isn’t he looking inward at the fact that he can understand Spanish?

“Regardless if they started he had no reason to be a racist, he could of talked ishh to each without the “get out of my country”. Not ok.”

Unfortunately, the video continues to escalate, with signs pointing not in favor of the Amazon driver and her husband. Toward the very end, a black woman appears out of nowhere and tells the camera that it was actually Cruz herself who started the argument. Regardless of who started it, that isn’t an excuse to tell anyone something as racist as to go back to their own country.

Hopefully, Cruz will be able to show Amazon the video as proof to allow her route to be different the next time she needs to deliver in the area. Despite how people might feel against Latin folks, they still deserve to live their lives and work jobs.
