  • Joining the Dark Brotherhood in Oblivion: Remastered
  • Best NPCs to Kill

The edgy people out there might want to speed-run joining a faction, and one of the coolest is the Dark Brotherhood in Oblivion: Remastered. As you may expect, you’ll have to get your hands dirty, wait a bit, make more killing, and just wait to don the iconic red outfit. Yet once you do all that, you’ll have some great starting gear and will be able to be a full-fledged assassin in Cyrodiil. Here, we’ll tell you how to join this iconic faction.

If you’re a Cyrodiil veteran, the process is exactly the same as in the 2006 release. However, many players are jumping into this world for the first time, so here are the steps you must follow:

  1. Kill an NPC.
    1. As long as it isn’t essential, everyone’s up for grabs.
  2. Find a bed and go to sleep.
  3. Speak with Lucien and take the contract.
  4. Kill Rufio inside the Ill Omen’s Inn.
  5. Find another bed and sleep.

Once you do those steps, you’ll be part of the Dark Brotherhood in Cyrodiil.

Best NPCs to Kill

Naturally, you’ll want to avoid killing important NPCs, such as merchants or a few others that might give you quests. You don’t have to worry about essential NPCs, though, as those have a crown when you talk to them, meaning they are unkillable. In any case, you should look for any of the following:

  • Captain Renault
    • She will eventually die during the tutorial, so helping her meet her end earlier is a great idea and the safest choice before entering the open-world part of the game.
  • The Adoring Fan
    • We don’t have to convince you to do this. Just wait for him to spawn and kill him. You won’t get rid of him, though.
  • Kill any homeless person
    • If you don’t mind killing the unfortunate, you can find any homeless NPC and end their life.

As a general tip, do the killing at night and away from the guards. Speaking of guards, you can also kill them to join The Dark Brotherhood in Oblivion: Remastered, but you might get caught while doing so, and it will be an expensive price to pay. Instead, follow any of the above targets to get scouted into this secretive organization.
