If you’re coming from Skyrim, you might’ve noticed that Oblivion: Remastered has an interesting system where armor and other items need to be repaired. At first, it might be a bit difficult to remember. Since you’ll be adventuring across the map, chances are that your gear will wear down without you noticing. If that happens, repairing is in order, but how do you do it? Here, we’ll tell you how to repair armor in Oblivion: Remastered.

Using Repair Hammers

The cheapest yet not-so-safe option to repair armor in Oblivion: Remastered is using Repair Hammers. You can either find these items by looting containers and enemies or by buying them from certain shops. If you want some repairs on the go, this is the best option. However, there are a few caveats. For instance, the Repair Hammer will break if your Armorer skill is low. For that reason, it is more useful if you pursue that skill and have a lot of Repair Hammers to spare. If not, it is better to follow the second option.

Visiting a Blacksmith

Most cities and towns have at least one Blacksmith that offers repairing services. To access them, talk to the NPC and look at the bottom left to find the repair option. However, it is much more expensive than using a hammer, so if you’re just starting, it might not be the best idea. Still, it is the safest choice, as you don’t need any skills to use this function. All you need is some gold, and that can be hard to come by during the first hours.

Beyond that, there’s also one way to repair items with special properties, or in other words, enchanted. To do so, you’ll need to reach level 25 in the Armorer skill and obtain the Apprentice Perk. Doing so will allow you to repair enchanted items. However, if your Armor skill is still low, the Repair Hammer will also break while trying to fix these items.

Repairing armor on the fly is an excellent skill to have, especially since a good money-making method in Oblivion: Remastered is hard to come by at first. Yet, if you have obtained some gold, either legally or illegally, just visit a Blacksmith and let them do the heavy lifting.
