Another month, another Nintendo Direct. In this year’s October Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase, Nintendo and its partners are bringing quite a few surprises. From the Hyrule Warriors demo release, the new Story of Seasons game, No More Heroes III, to Control releasing on Switch, here are all of the announcements from the 2020 October Nintendo Direct Mini.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Demo is Available Now
During the October Nintendo Direct Mini, Nintendo released a Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity demo on the eShop. The new trailer above also shows that we will be able to control the giant Divine Beasts and easily dispatch both enemies and buildings in select stages. Age of Calamity is set 100 years before the events of Breath of the Wild and the full game will launch on November 20th.

Remedy Entertainment’s latest release, Control, comes to the Nintendo Switch today. Not in physical or downloadable form though, as instead, you can play Control Ultimate Edition via the Cloud. After Resident Evil VII was made to be playable on Switch using a cloud server, it seems more and more developers are opening up to the idea.
Hitman III Also Coming via the Cloud
This is the second time the Hitman series got into a Nintendo system (Hitman 2: Silent Assassin on Gamecube was the first). Just like Control, IO Interactive chose to use cloud technology to deliver the game on Switch. It launches for all platforms on January 20, 2021.
Tropico 6 Switch Edition Lands on November 6
Tropico 6 lands on Switch on November 6. Unlike Hitman and Control though, it comes in a downloadable form on eShop. Pre-orders for the game opened right after the October Nintendo Direct Mini stream ended.
Griftlands Launches in Summer 2021
The sci-fi deck-building rogue-lite game from Klei Entertainment, creator of Shank, Mark of the Ninja, and Don’t Starve, is coming to Switch in summer 2021. Your every decision matters in each playthrough of this “negotiation simulator”, whether it’s the jobs you take, the friends you make, or even the cards you collect.
Immortals Fenyx Rising is Also Releasing on Switch
This game and Genshin Impact might be taking ideas from Breath of the Wild (and putting in their own twists). Unlike Genshin Impact though, Ubisoft is brave enough to release Immortals Fenyx Rising on Switch as well. As the new winged demigod Fenyx, take on mythological beasts and master the legendary powers of the Greek gods to defeat Typhon. The game will launch on December 3rd and pre-orders are now open.
Bravely Default II Will Be Out On February 26
During the October Nintendo Direct Mini, Square Enix announced that Bravely Default II is ready to launch on February 26, 2021. This time around, by defeating enemies called Asterisk bearers, you will acquire Asterisks that allows your characters to change jobs. These include the powerful Vanguard, the White Mage, the Bard, the Beastmaster, and the Gambler. After the demo went live in March, the developers collected player feedback. Most participants enjoyed the music a lot but found the game a bit too hard. You can watch the official summary over on YouTube.
A New Story of Seasons is Announced
A new entry in the farming simulator Story of Seasons was introduced in the October Nintendo Direct Mini. Sow fields, grow a cornucopia of colorful crops, and construct a massive ranch with lots of animal pens in Story of Season: Pioneers of Olive Town, coming to Switch on March 23, 2021.
No More Heroes III Trailer Released, Along With No More Heroes I and II Switch Ports
With No More Heroes III releasing exclusively for Switch in 2021, you might be looking for a new way to experience Travis’ adventure all over again. You don’t have to worry though, because both No More Heroes and No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle are now on Switch as well. Go download them on eShop right now!
Part Time UFO Releases During the October Nintendo Direct Mini
From HAL Laboratory (Kirby series, BoxBoy) comes a new game called Part Time UFO. Taking on the role of an adorable UFO, your task is to dish up sweets, catch some fish, or even build a castle, the little UFO will perform all sorts of part-time jobs. Local co-op is also possible by simply passing a Joy-Con controller to a friend or family member. Best of all, the game was released during the October Nintendo Direct Mini.
Surviving the Aftermath Launches in Spring 2021
Survive and thrive in a post-apocalyptic future by building the ultimate disaster-proof colony in Surviving the Aftermath. First released in October 2019 on PC, Xbox One, and PS4, the Switch port will be available in spring 2021.
Bakugan: Champions of Vestroia Releases on November 3
And last but not least, a new video game for the Bakugan toyline will be available on Switch in mere days. Champions of Vestroia will be sold on stores and the eShop on November 3.
