The official trailer for Star Trek: Picard season two has been released by Paramount+. And if that’s not exciting enough, a familiar face from Jean-Luc Picard’s past is making an exciting return.

The official Star Trek website explains that season two of Star Trek: Picard will feature Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) waking up in the past, specifically into 21st-century earth. In the trailer, we hear that he is specifically in the year 2024. Picard will have to enlist many friends, new and old, to fight the perils of the century. And among those friends is none other than Guinan, Whoopi Goldberg’s famous character from Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Goldberg first portrayed Guinan on The Next Generation in the 1988 episode “The Child.” She became a semi-regular on the show, appearing in 29 episodes and the feature films Star Trek: Generations and Star Trek: Nemesis. In January of 2020, Stewart appeared on The View to promote Star Trek: Picard’s first season, and he surprised Goldberg by formally inviting her to reprise her famous role in the show’s second season. Goldberg happily accepted, calling her time on the previous show “one of the great experiences and the “Best time ever!”

Star Trek: Picard premiered on CBS All Access, now Paramount+, in January of 2020 to generally positive reviews. Before the show even premiered, it had already been renewed for a second season. That season is now coming out two years later as the Covid-19 pandemic delayed production. Recently, production on the upcoming season was briefly paused due to a Covid outbreak onset. However, production was quickly continued with a limited staff.

Star Trek: Picard season two will premiere on March 3, 2022, exclusively on Paramount+.

We want to hear from you, Trekkies. Did this trailer for Star Trek: Picard season two get you excited for the new season? Are you excited for Whoopi Goldberg to return as Guinan? Talk to us on The Nerd Stash Facebook page or @TheNerdStash on Twitter.
