A man in Kettering, Ohio, was working out at a local gym when a stranger approached him. This individual began mocking him while pretending to have a disability: he hit his head, tried to eat his car keys, and even made loud noises. All of this was caught on camera, and the internet identified the stranger, who has a track record of baiting strangers for reactions.
Tony Hatcher, the man working out, shared the clip on TikTok. He is a content creator who is vlogging his weight loss journey. It was during this journey that the random man approached him, resulting in a viral clip. It garnered 1.2 million views, 79,400 likes, and more than 1,300 comments.
The Ohio man was livestreaming his workout. He was in the middle of a set on a chest press machine when a man wearing a red shirt approached him from behind. Tony greeted him, but he was only met with extremely odd behavior.
The stranger began making noises and banging on his own head. He was also shown grabbing his car keys and sticking them into his mouth. Tony, not willing to engage with a man, asked him, “You got a problem? Can I finish my workout now?” The man continued with his not-so-funny gag.
“Can you go do that over there?” Tony asked. The fellow, after an awkward silence, said, “Yeah,” and walked away.
Not Worth It, Stranger Identified
Tony grabbed the camera and told his audience that it wasn’t worth it to get mad at “dumb [expletive]” such as the behavior shown in the clip. In the description, he said that he talked to the manager about the stranger, who told him to “take the guy outside and teach him a lesson.” He didn’t.
“To the guy who did this: I don’t wish you any ill will,” Tony wrote, while saying that the man was pretending to have a mental disability. “I’m happy it was me and not some unhinged person you did this to. You need to do better. Be careful. There are psychos out there in the world. You can’t just walk up on people you don’t know. It worked out this time, but one day it might not. Please do better.”
Viewers correctly identified who the individual shown in the video was. His username is moshe324, and he has uploaded several “pranks” during which he and other men approach restaurant employees and yell at them to elicit a response.
Social Media Reactions
Knowing that context, many users online reacted by blasting Moshe for his behavior involving Tony. One said, “That’s so disturbing. People are so horrible. Straight up mocking disabled people.” Another one commented, “How embarrassing for him.”
Others applauded how the Ohio man handled himself during the interaction. One wrote, “Literally ignoring the behavior instead of reacting was so mature. Much applause.” Another one added, “I love your gentle parenting him. Excellent restraint.”
Putting the awkward encounter aside, Tony has a workout streak of 427 days. With such focus, it is no wonder that such a thing didn’t disturb him at all.
