An anti-ICE protest in Ohio turned into a nightmare for the protesters as police made brutality the order of the day. The authorities were caught on camera beating a protester on the Roebling suspension bridge. The video of the disturbing scene was shared on Reddit and partly captioned “Gross Police Abuse.”
In the clip, a member of the group is seen lying helplessly on the floor while two police officers are on top of him, attempting to restrain him. One of the personnel is seen hitting the man repeatedly on the head for almost a minute.
The personnel subsequently put the man’s hands behind his back in an attempt to handcuff him. One other female from the group can be seen yelling at the officers to stop the attack. However, her efforts were futile as another law enforcement official pointed a gun at her.
The abuse, filmed from another angle and shared on Reddit, showed that the beating had started even before the victim was lying on the floor. The clip shows a group of policemen surrounding one demonstrator, prompting the victim and other protesters to attempt to rescue him.
However, one officer apprehended the victim and pointed a less-lethal gun at him. When thhe attempted to flee, the personnel pursued and captured him. The officer caught the demonstrator, held him by the neck, and rained punches on his head. A second law enforcement officer joined in the attack, and together, they pinned the man to the floor and continued the assault.
The demonstration was originally scheduled for a Chaplain at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital who ICE abducted. However, the authorities were called due to disturbances caused by two individuals.
According to an eyewitness report, one individual drove a black Tesla Sedan, parked on the road behind the rally. He blasted his horn and began waving a flag from his window. The second person then drove a black SUV into the crowd. The video has since sparked an uproar online as netizens condemn the police’s use of excessive force. One internet user described the incident as “Ghoulish.”
Another user remarked on the authorities’ lack of professionalism. The user wrote, “As usual, a severe lack of training. This plays out, over and over, every single day all across America. Groundhog Day.”
A third person added, “If you have a problem and you call the cops. You now have two problems. They have no obligation to serve and protect the public. Best case scenario they show up and do nothing. This is what happens when they do something.”
Although there is currently no report from the police concerning the use of force, several demonstrators were reportedly arrested.
