With Donald Trump’s influence and ICE continuing to spark countless controversies and incidents across America, an increasing number of protesters are taking to the streets to express their dissatisfaction with the current political and social climate. Demonstrations have become a regular sight, and while many citizens support the right to protest, there is also a vocal portion of the population that views these gatherings as disruptive, irritating, or even dangerous. Among those detractors was one particularly aggressive man in Oklahoma who escalated tensions far beyond simple disagreement and threatened the protesters directly.
In a video that quickly circulated on Reddit, the man can be seen and heard shouting threats at demonstrators. At one point, he ominously declared that when a “civil war” begins, he would personally be coming after every single one of them. His threats did not go unanswered. The protesters, unwilling to stay silent in the face of intimidation, responded with equal volume, creating a chaotic back-and-forth shouting match. When confronted about his aggressive behavior, the Oklahoma man insisted that he had every right to yell at them.
As the confrontation continued, he noticed the cameraman recording the incident. Rather than backing down, the man doubled down, taunting the group and even encouraging the recording to be shared online. The Oklahoma man repeated his threats, again warning that the protesters would “get what was coming to them.”
After delivering those words, he began to walk away, but some of the male protesters followed him, shouting insults in return. At that moment, the situation took an even darker turn. Feeling cornered, the man suddenly pulled out a badge, flashing it in an attempt to intimidate the crowd. He loudly declared that he was an officer and hurled an expletive at the demonstrators.
The cameraman, however, was unfazed. Instead of backing off, he pressed the man further, goading him into showing the badge again in hopes of capturing identifying details. Other protesters joined in, demanding his full name and badge number. Under pressure, the man identified himself as Mason Hibbs, but he refused to provide his badge number. This refusal only heightened suspicions. Sensing an opportunity, the cameraman shifted focus toward the man’s car and successfully recorded his license plate number. That gave online sleuths the crucial information they needed.
As often happens when an aggressor dares the internet to dig into their identity, it did not take long for Reddit users to connect the dots. Within hours, people had traced his online presence and unearthed a disturbing pattern of behavior. Hibbs, it turned out, had been equally hostile and unfiltered on social media. His Twitter account, filled with slurs and hateful rhetoric, revealed him to be openly antisemitic and deeply entrenched in extremist ideology.
The outrage was immediate and intense. Many internet users expressed disgust at the man’s brazen threats and his apparent position of authority. “The fascists are so emboldened,” one Redditor wrote, summarizing the general sentiment. Others tore into his appearance and behavior, mocking what they saw as a stereotypical profile: “Every MAGA man’s profile. Buzz cut, stupid glasses, looking for war, carrying an assault rifle, claiming to be law enforcement… worried about all the terrifying gay people yet worshipping a willfully lying, hypocritical, rapist, convicted felon.”
Beyond ridicule, some users voiced serious concern about what the incident revealed about law enforcement accountability. “This dude should be far from a gun and badge unless he is being placed under arrest,” one commenter wrote. “That was insane. Over people holding signs? Imagine if non-MAGA folks popped off over every ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ sticker or a truck tailgate with Biden gagged and hogtied in the back.”
