Imagine going about your day, heading to a grocery store to get some things done. You’re perusing the aisle, ticking off your shopping list, with no one disturbing your peace. You might even pop in some earbuds and play soothing music just to avoid small talk with strangers. Now that’s bliss. Unfortunately, an Oklahoma woman doing her shopping at the Walmart Supercenter in Guymon didn’t have headphones to block out what she was about to hear.
The now-viral clip shows the woman in an otherwise empty electronics aisle, pushing her cart and browsing the shelves. Off camera, a man who was recording the whole thing says, “Um, excuse me? You have really nice feet.” Without waiting for a reaction, he slips into an exaggerated, cartoonish tone, adding, “Bro, how did you know that? Bro has X-ray vision, but for grippers. Bro is Superman, but for feet.”
The woman initially keeps walking, perhaps trying to brush off the bizarre comment. But a few seconds later, she turns back. With one hand placed firmly inside her purse, she approaches and asks, “You want to know what I got in my purse?” Whatever confidence the man had evaporated instantly. “Oh, I’m sorry. Oh,” he says, his tone changing from playful to apologetic in record time. The woman then walks off without another word.
Netizens React to Video of Oklahoma Woman’s Confrontation in Walmart
Online, viewers had plenty to say about the exchange. Some condemned the man’s actions, others applauded the woman’s reaction, and a few speculated about the contents of her purse. One person wrote, “Fuck whoever this is, leave people tf alone. Wish he’d gotten pepper sprayed.” A second added, “Sick of seeing these videos where jackoffs act like morons in public.” “We’ve reached a point where harassment is a norm and everything is ‘just a prank bro,’” said a third.
A Redditor, who praised the way she handled the situation, remarked, “Appropriate response honestly, dude turned from clown to humble in a fraction of a second.” “Seeing clips of women that don’t take [anything] never fails to make me smile,” said a second user. As for the speculation that bubbled up, one person guessed that “she was packing more than pepper spray,” to which someone else seconded, “The lady was definitely carrying.”
