An old man in Miami, Florida, threw a tantrum as he freaked out at a group of people, referring to them as “illegal” simply because he heard them speak a non-English language. In a video posted on Reddit, the senior citizen could be seen pacing around as he addressed several people behind the camera for speaking Spanish.
“Come into America and know the language! If you are not legal here, you are not welcome here,” he could be heard saying, demanding to know if they understood him. “You don’t?” he asked one person behind the camera, sounding frustrated as though they didn’t understand his words. He then demanded to know the person’s name. “Joseph,” the person responded. The old man immediately added, “Smith.” He then turned to another person and asked for their name as well. “Joseph,” the person replied again. Two people bearing the same name appeared to surprise the old man, and he immediately grew more agitated.
“[Expletive] you! If you are not here legally, I don’t appreciate it,” he fumed, emphasizing that all his friends came into the country legally. Determined to know their status, he screamed at them, “Tell me what your legal status is!” demanding they disclose it to him.
The comment section didn’t take the man’s actions lightly, as many users expressed outrage. “Getting pissed about hearing Spanish in Miami is insane. It’s the primary language for like two-thirds of its residents. Where does this guy think he is?” someone asked. Pointing out his ignorance, another added, “Florida man is ignorant of the history of Miami.”
Another fumed, “It’s Miami! Like complaining about people speaking Yiddish or Hebrew in Williamsburg.” As though baffled, one person added, “Miami, where 60% of the population is Cuban or Puerto Rican… WTF?!?” Highlighting Trump’s influence, another user wrote:
“Trump has done thousands of horrible and illegal things to this country and the world, but ever since he threw his hat in the ring to be president, I’ve said one of the most dangerous things he’s done is re-empowered hatred, bigotry, sexism, and racism. He gave a hall pass to everyone filled with hate to act on those emotions, and sadly it’s gaining momentum every day.”
A person added firmly, “Ahhh, Trumpism at its finest.” One user wrote in embarrassment, “The blatant racism is unreal. This administration has made it the norm. I’ve never been so embarrassed to be a white person.” As another person called out the absurdity, they wrote, “Ah! Another social justice warrior! Complaining about people speaking Spanish in Miami! Heh!”
It seems anything triggers Karens these days even something as natural as speaking Spanish.
