With the negative changes that the Trump administration has brought to health insurance, many are struggling to afford healthcare costs. One couple in Eugene, Oregon, has shared their awful experience dealing with these changes concerning their health insurance premiums. In a TikTok post uploaded by Senator Ron Wyden, Carla and Bartley’s insurance company informed them that their monthly payments would quintuple, increasing from $443 a month to $2,224.

Carla and Bartley are retirees in Eugene, Oregon. Their insurance company notified them that their health insurance premiums are going from $443 per month to $2224 per month because Republicans have failed to act. Millions of families will experience the same unless Republicans agree to stop these price increases.

The Oregon senator has explained that this massive hike in the couple’s insurance cost is “because Republicans have failed to act. Millions of families will experience the same unless Republicans agree to stop these price increases.” But as one commenter puts it, “Unfortunately, America voted for a felon and now he’s stealing from us all our quality of life.” Another added that the money put into ICE should have been used for healthcare.

A Redditor pointed out that the 500% change in health insurance premiums is not a decision made by the healthcare provider, but rather by the decisions made in the White House. “They’re gutting every single safety net the American government has,” they explain, with “their goal is to break everything and auction off the parts to the highest corporate bidder.” Another user added that the $2,224 per month doesn’t mean “free healthcare” but is the cost for the insurance premium. “If they actually want to see a doctor, they have deductibles and copays on top of that,” they expressed.

Trump was questioned about sending $20 billion to Argentina instead of helping U.S. farmers

“Guys don’t worry. Trump gave Argentina 40 billion dollars we’ll be fine,” one person sarcastically remarked. The President explained that the people in Argentina are “fighting for their lives,” meaning that they would take priority over American farmers regarding federal funding. Of course, this could also apply to the issue with health insurance costs, as the commenter expressed.
