It appears the Starbucks drama involving Charlie Kirk continues, and the latest incident involves a customer more difficult than the last. Because this time, a customer from Oregon not only called the police on the Starbucks branch, but also stood her ground and even created several videos about the incident, citing that the Starbucks encounter had left her psychologically scarred, supposedly:
The video was a repost of the original from the woman’s Facebook account, and she has been identified as Billy-Gwen Gates from Bonanza, Oregon. Gates went to Starbucks on September 25, and in the video she posted above, she can be seen already complaining to the Starbucks baristas because they served her drink to her instead of calling out the name she wanted on her coffee cup, which is “Charlie Kirk.”
Gates can be heard saying, “So you didn’t call his name out? You didn’t call the name out?” before going off on a tirade about free speech and making a point. According to Gates, Starbucks baristas should say Charlie Kirk on orders because “It’s not politics, a man spoke up for what he believes in and got shot in the neck over it.”
The baristas have then started calling out Gates for setting them up for failure and causing a scene, as she was notably recording before they served her the drink. Gates, however, insists that the baristas should’ve obliged because she posted a good review on the branch beforehand. Sadly, Gates also decided to escalate the incident by calling the police, but they told her to just take it up with the Starbucks management.
People Online Claim She’s a Karen and a Grifter
In a follow-up video, Gates can be seen crying in her car while driving and narrating what happened when she called Starbucks management, as her issue with the branch went unresolved, as the baristas have the right to refuse to say the full name on the cup. Gates then went on about feeling disrespected by Starbucks because she supposedly has PTSD, CPTSD, anxiety, and agoraphobia.
Viewers, however, seem less sympathetic to her plight and have taken to calling her “Karen” in multiple viral posts on other social media platforms. Some have even mocked Gates for making such a huge fuss, “‘And what did she do? She BROUGHT me my drink,’ Oh, the f***ing HORROR,” says a Reddit user making fun of her reason for the outburst.
Others wanted the whole Starbucks corporation to ban her for causing such a scene, “Ban this Karen from the whole chain,” recommends another commenter. Meanwhile, some people were quick to call Gates out on what they assumed she was doing, which was trying to chase clout based on a famous murdered man, “f***ing attention demons. using a dead mans name to garner clicks and clout is nauseating to see.” So far, Gates hasn’t provided another update on the situation following the Starbucks meltdown.
