On TikTok, a woman in Oregon is urging other Walmart customers to always check their receipts carefully while shopping. The lady claims that several items she paid for at Walmart never made it into her bags. According to her, the missing groceries are worth around $60.
In her video, she explained that she had experienced similar incidents in the past but often dismissed them, assuming she might have forgotten to pick up certain items. However, after going over her most recent receipt, she realized she was missing multiple things, and not just small ones. “I am missing a huge tin of cupcakes, a whole pack of bananas, a huge creamer, a huge tin of chicken tenderloins, three cans of corn, and my big old tin of butter,” she listed.
The woman said she called the Walmart store immediately to report it, but the staff didn’t seem concerned. The employee allegedly told her that the missing items hadn’t been turned in and that she would need to come back to the store. “She cuts me off and was like, as long as it’s not too late,” the customer said, adding that the employee’s dismissive tone felt insulting to her considering she had spent over $150 on groceries.
The shopper also mentioned that she is currently out of work due to her upcoming brain and neck surgery and said the situation hit her hard. “This is not the time I would’ve probably let it go. But I just can’t afford to.”
What People Are Saying About the Oregon Walmart Shopper’s Complaint
Some TikTok users supported the woman by tagging Walmart in the comments section. One wrote, “@Walmart get your store together. If you offer the service please don’t steal from people. If people steal from you, they get a theft ticket and banned from Walmart… So why is it ok for your store to do it to a person?” Another person who tagged the retailer said, “This isn’t the first one I have seen… this needs to stop!”
A few netizens noted that similar problems often happen during self-checkout or when employees bag items. “This happens to my mom all the time. ALL THE TIME!! They usually refund her tho [sic] no problem if she doesn’t get items or crappy items,” one viewer shared. Someone else added, “They take the whole payment out and then say everything got put in the bag. But they don’t and have to go back into it and refund us. So I think a lot of it is the system too.”
