Viewers also accused her of making fun of a substitute teacher who was present in the room, all while commenters interacted in real time and the children remained in view.
The livestream has since been taken down, and the Maryland woman’s most recent uploads are no longer visible. However, a look through her older content suggests that she built much of her online identity around her role as a kindergarten teacher. In many of her past videos, she spoke about her experiences in the classroom, shared daily routines, or recorded herself cleaning and organizing school supplies. One older video even showed her commenting on students’ “fashion,” though in that case only their shoes and feet were visible.
Despite those earlier attempts to limit exposure, the livestream crossed a line for many viewers. The incident involving the Maryland woman sparked significant criticism, with many people expressing concern about student privacy, professionalism, and the potential consequences of livestreaming children without consent. “This is absolutely not okay,” one user wrote.
Others questioned how the Maryland woman could fail to consider the serious implications of her actions, including the possibility of disciplinary action or termination. “It’s rare that I think people should lose their jobs over something posted online, especially if no one is being harmed, but how do we make sure this person never steps foot in a classroom again?” another commenter said.
Some viewers took things further by attempting to identify the Maryland woman and report the incident directly to the school. During a later livestream, viewers reported that an official social media account associated with the school briefly joined the broadcast, prompting her to immediately end the stream.
