While Batman and Batwoman are no stranger to a reinvention, the latest issue of DC’s Outsiders is taking that to the next level. The comic, from Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing, and Robert Carey, brings some wild versions of the bat-heroes to the DC Universe. The issue follows Luke Fox and Kate Kane as they continue to delve into the unknown of the multiverse. This investigation leads them to two rooms deep within Batman’s psyche. One room is chocked full of Batman variants that have yet to pop up in the DC Universe. Similarly, the other room is packed with twisted version of Batwoman.
Too Many Bat-Heroes To Handle
Outsiders #3 takes readers deeper into the Multiverse than ever before. As Luke Fox and Kate Kane step through the door opened by Drummer, they fall deeper within the maze that is the Multiverse. Going further than ever before, the two are guided by mysterious voices and unfamiliar versions of some familiar faces. This “narrative singularity” they have stumbled upon features twisted versions of Batman and Batwoman, but what does it all mean.
When Luke Fox and Kate Kane get separated in their investigation, they each find a room filled with variants. Luke gets stuck in a room that looks an awful lot like Batman’s BatCave. Within it stands a ton of Batman variants. They include the hero from Batman Beyond, the Batman from Flashpoint, and even Batman hybrids of Bane and The Joker. Meanwhile, Kate’s room is more like Wayne Manor, but the Batwomen she meets are just as twisted. Several seem to just be in different forms of the Batwoman costume. However, some are very odd like the part fish and part cat Batwoman and the Batwoman-Joker hybrid.
The New Outsiders
This Outsiders series is all part of the Dawn of DC relaunch. The twelve-issue series comes from writers Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing. They are joined by artist Robert Carey. The series follows Kate Kane AKA Batwoman and Luke Fox as they lead a new team to explore the history of the DC Universe. This all comes after the fallout of DC’s Gotham War event has led the two leaders to become disillusioned by superheroes.
Outsiders #3 is on sale now from DC Comics.
