Overwatch 2 has a tragic amount of negative reviews on Steam. It’s an amount that makes it literally the worst-rated game on the platform. Even though a big part of the negative reviews came after the protests and review bombings, the game has serious issues with various subjects. There are complaints about the characters, the cancellation of PvE features players expected, the bugs, and unfair balancing in some parts of the game. Overwatch 2‘s director is talking about the reviews and those problems for the first time; here are Aaron Keller’s thoughts on this.
Overwatch 2 Director Talks About the Steam Reviews
The game’s director states: “We also launched on Steam last week, and although being review-bombed isn’t a fun experience, it’s been great to see many new players jump into Overwatch 2 for the first time. Our goal with Overwatch 2 has been to make the game more accessible than ever for more people than ever before“.
Keller also mentions that the team is aware of the comments about the disappointment of PvE features:
“Many of the reviews on Steam mention the cancellation of the much larger component of PvE that was announced in 2019 as one of their primary reasons for dissatisfaction with the game,” he says. “I get that. That announcement was about an ambitious project that we ultimately couldn’t deliver.”
The game wasn’t released on Steam at first. The Blizzard team thought they could manage everything just fine without Steam’s community support and launcher features, but review bombing fsays otherwise. The fanbase unleashed its anger in the reviews section of Steam. That led to 130,000 negative reviews, which gives Overwatch 2 the distinction of being the worst rated game on Steam.
