The spooky season is about to invade a lot of games out there, and one of the first to show what’s coming is Overwatch 2 with the release of its Season 19. The hero shooter will feature several seasonal game modes, a plethora of skins and rewards, and even some additions to the Stadium game mode. So, it might be time to start dusting off your main characters and prepare for some spooky shooting.
Overwatch 2 Season 19 Adds Three Game Modes, Stadium Heroes, and More
Blizzard revealed today the launch trailer for Overwatch 2 Season 19. The game mode that took most of the spotlight is the Haunted Masquerade, which will allow you to don masks from other team members to acquire unique abilities during the fight. But that’s not all. Some abilities will only trigger if certain lore-linked characters equip specific masks, such as Reinhardt and Brigitte. A lot of players loved this approach, and even commented on some of the lore-linked combinations they were able to spot during the trailer.
Hanzo and Genji wearing the masks of each other is perfection.
Besides the Haunted Masquerade, Junkestein’s Revenge will return for some co-op fun, and if you want something more cinematic, you’ll be able to join Sojourn, Junker Queen, Kiriko, and Ashe in Wrath of the Bride.
All three game modes will become available on October 14, when Season 19 for Overwatch 2 launches, and will remain there until November 3.
However, the spooky season is bringing a few more permanent goodies to the Stadium mode, such as the debut of three new heroes, Torbjรถrn, Hazard, and Sojourn. On top of that, the Armory is getting a facelift with better ways to filter your items and builds. Also, combat text is coming, and it will let you see the damage and healing you make from either perspective.
If that wasn’t enough, players will also experience the new Gadgets system, which will let heroes equip one in each match to give you an ace up your sleeve during a game. Some examples include the Jet Skates that let you escape from opponents, and the Kitsune Charm that removes negative effects from other team members.
And of course, a season wouldn’t be one without new rewards, and Season 19 is bringing some of the best cosmetics we’ve seen in Overwatch 2 lately. There will be an Archangel collection for Mercy, Freja, Genji, Baptiste, Pharah, and Sigma. And a Spirits collection for Kiriko, Ashe, Reaper, Widowmaker, and Roadhog. The former will be up in the store from October 14 to October 27, while the latter will roll in from October 28 to November 10.
Last but not least, there will now be two Mythic skins per season, and each skin will get new customization options with each tier. So, if you’re a fan of collecting cosmetics, this season is bound to be one of the best in recent memory. All that remains is to save the date and prepare for one packed spooky season for this hero shooter.
