Back in May, Blizzard announced a new Pink Mercy skin (priced at $15) that would be coming to Overwatch for a limited time. Along with the Pink Mercy costume, a $30 limited t-shirt designed by community member Vickisigh was unveiled. All proceeds from these items would go directly to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
“We still need you!” 🎀
Thanks to the generosity of everyone who’s purchased the Pink Mercy skin so far, we’re closing in on raising $10M USD to support @BCRFcure.

The Pink Mercy event only ran for a few weeks but it garnered nearly $10 million during that short time.
Let’s fast forward to today. Blizzard has announced that the Overwatch community has raised more than $12.7 million for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Overwatch streamers also made substantial contributions, raising over $130 000 for this great cause.
Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime had this to say about the event:
“BCRF does critical work every single day to support women’s health and develop new research and strategies for preventing, treating, and curing breast cancer, and we’re proud to make this contribution to their efforts”
“I’m grateful to all of the Overwatch players around the world who made supporting such a good cause possible with their enthusiasm for the game and their generosity.”
Personally, I’ve had family members and friends who have suffered from breast cancer so hearing this news is certainly uplifting, especially coming from the Overwatch community (who has a stigma of being toxic).

In way less serious news, Overwatch recently unveiled Hammond AKA Wrecking Ball. Wrecking Ball is the game’s 28th hero and has been available on Public Test Realm for weeks. Going off of previous post-launch heroes, this hamster in an oversized mech suit (can’t believe I just wrote that) should be available for consoles sooner rather than later.
