As a thank you to fans, Blizzard has announced that they will be extending Overwatch‘s open beta period to May 10 at 10 a.m. PDT. People have been moving in droves to take advantage of the open beta over the weekend since it was only available for closed beta access in previous months.

The team posted a new thread on their discussion forum, saying, “We couldn’t be more grateful. So, as a small way of saying ‘thank you’ to our community and the millions of players who have logged in so far, we will be extending the Open Beta by 1 day on all platforms.”
They also shared how much they have been enjoying playing Overwatch with the community, as well as learning what improvements can be made to the game through the feedback from players. However, with the game getting its full release on May 24th, there obviously isn’t a whole lot of time to make too many changes. At this point, what you see in the open beta is highly likely to be what is in the game upon release.
The only drastic change we may see is the addition of ranked play, which Blizzard has already announced they are working on updating. Ranked play may not be available on launch day, with the team saying they are working on a “newly re-designed version” available sometime after launch.
In any case, it will be a few weeks until the release of Overwatch, so enjoy the extra day of the beta while you can!
