Last Thursday, the Twitter page for Overwatch posted a six-second clip of what appeared to be a new map. However, earlier today another video was posted showcasing the same space as a giant metal armadillo-looking ball rolls across the screen. Take a look at the tweet below!

Earlier speculation revolved around a new map, but now fans are expecting a new map (although it almost looks like King’s Row to me) and possibly the reveal of Hero 28. The popular assumption is that we might be looking at a new hero in the Tank class, and as short as the video is, there is still plenty to speculate on!
Now, at the moment, it is unclear if the hunk of metal rolling through the alley is the hero themselves, a weapon, an ultimate, an omnic, or another half-robotic monkey. But, these trailers always seem to be the most exciting parts of a new hero reveal! While it is still entirely speculation at this point, there are two potential heroes that are at the top of everyone’s theory list: Queen of Junkertown and Hammond.
As a poster featuring a monkey is pretty prominent in the trailer, I’m leaning toward Hammond myself. If you are unfamiliar with Hammond, he was first teased in Horizon Lunar Colony upon its release last year. Hammond appears to be a much a much smaller test subject — think chimp size– than Winston, who was also a part of experiments on Horizon Lunar Colony. If this is true, he might have escaped with Winston after the ape revolution.
The other popular theory at the moment revolves around the Queen of Junkertown. Anyone familiar with the map will recognize not only her image but her set of rules and homages throughout the map as well. Scrapyard posters can be seen peeking out from behind the Horizon Lunar Colony propaganda, and the sort of mech-combat tank seen in the clip would fit her potential playstyle. Or, who knows? Hammond and the Queen may be working together somehow as the newest hero of Overwatch, as both seem to play a large part.
Unfortunately, all we can do is wait at this point. But the Lucio poster seen in the Overwatch clip is a cause for a bit of head scratching as well. What are your theories? As a Winston main, I’d be interested in seeing how Hammond would compare and contrast to his ape predecessor.
