Out of all the survival crafting games out there, Pacific Drive remains one of the most original and addictive. Instead of building your house in an abandoned forest or fighting against the usual elements, you’re inside the Olympic Exclusion Zone, dodging all manner of bizarre hazards while you upgrade your station wagon. Even if the game’s been out for a while now, it doesn’t mean Ironwood Studios has stopped working on it. If you didn’t know, Pacific Drive: Expeditions has gone live, and it is the perfect excuse to return for one more ride.
Pacific Drive: Expeditions Is Live and Features Many New Roguelite Challenges
For the unaware, Pacific Drive: Expeditions is a major update that brings a new way to experience the game. After crafting a new item in your garage, you can unlock ever-changing expeditions that will take you to longer routes and yield great rewards. Once you are ready to go, you can pick between different expeditions, each with different rewards. Some will give you car decorations, others will provide you with materials, and a few will even give you equipment. According to the official announcement, you can run the expeditions alongside the campaign. But if you’re starting in an existing save, you can enjoy these rides at a higher difficulty.
Since these routes are longer, you won’t be able to return to your garage so easily. Instead, you’ll have to stop at Pit Junctions to repair your vehicle and send materials back to your garage. And if that wasn’t enough, a new trader will appear on the road, so you should watch out for them if you want to restock or get a few interesting items.
On top of that, there’s other new content coming with Pacific Drive: Expeditions. The Plasma Scrapper and Thermal Vacuum have received updates. There’s one extra hour of music for you to play during your rides. There are many collectibles for you to find, new HUD options, car cosmetics, and so on.
So, if you have been away from the road for a while, now’s the perfect time to dust off that station wagon. Whether you want to continue with the story or do something past it, Expeditions brings many things to keep you behind the wheel for a lot of hours.
