The name Panzer Dragoon should be familiar to gamers from my generation. While not known to the general public of gamers, it is still widely popular among those who have heard of it. With a few remakes coming out, Sega is following suit with the popular classic series. First released in 1995 for the Sega Saturn, the series is making a comeback in a way people might have not expected. The developers of the new title, Wildman, announced that the series would return in VR form.
Known as Panzer Dragoon Voyage Record, development is being helmed by Wildman Inc. The developers had previously showcased their work in a VR ‘game’ titled The Gunner of Dragoon. And if the video is anything to go by, Wildman Inc will grow their fanbase if the game is as successful as they hope. The VR version will feature content from the first three titles feature on Sega systems. Optimized for VR, this game will be something that keeps those headsets on people for hours. Work on your grip strength to ensure you don’t lose that controller.
Despite the announcement of the new game, there is no word on the exact release date. So far, the only known release ‘date’ for the Panzer Dragoon VR game is March of 2021.
Longtime fans of the original do not need to worry. For those who can’t wait for VR, the Panzer Dragoon remake will be released for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows. There are a number of Sega titles available for the PS4, but there is no confirmation on whether or not PS4 will join the bandwagon.
