There has been much speculation about Britney Spears’ health and wellness in recent months. She’s free from her 13-year conservatorship and able to take full control of her life, but the photos/videos she has been posting on social media and the things she has said have raised eyebrows. There is also some concern about whether the Toxic singer has a support system now that she has divorced Sam Asghari and is estranged from her family. So, the report that she plans to reconnect with her mom, Lynne Spears, is not the worst thing fans have heard.
A new report from InTouch Weekly claims that Britney’s family is trying to intervene after a series of what they claim are “disturbing incidents.” While it initially looked like she may have been open to hearing what they had to say, this didn’t happen. “She may have seemed receptive to meeting with Lynne and Jamie Lynn at first,” a source told the outlet. “Then she changed her mind and got paranoid they were trying to trick her.”
Who Can Britney Spears Trust After Her Conservatorship?
Britney Spears’ alleged paranoia about trusting her family does not come out of nowhere. For more than a decade she could not make decisions about her life, which she has since revealed had a profound impact on her. In her memoir, The Woman in Me (via People), she admitted to feeling like a “robot.”
“I became a robot. But not just a robot — a sort of child-robot,” she wrote. “I had been so infantilized that I was losing pieces of what made me feel like myself. The conservatorship stripped me of my womanhood, made me into a child. I became more of an entity than a person onstage. I had always felt music in my bones and my blood; they stole that from me.”
With this in mind, it is completely understandable that she would not want to go through this again. “She was kept a ‘prisoner’ for 13 years, the way she tells it,” an insider recently told InTouch Weekly. “She’s afraid they’ll take a mile if she gives them an inch. She misses her mom and sister, but she doesn’t trust anyone in her family.”
Although the claims are unsurprising, it is an incredibly sad situation as Britney Spears appears to remain estranged from her family.
