After what happened to the 5-year-old boy named Liam Ramos, who got detained by ICE alongside his father, many parents have become more worried about their children. To make matters worse, it’s not rare to hear news of ICE agents patrolling near schools, bus stops, or even daycares. One concerned Minnesota father became alarmed when he saw masked ICE agents in front of his child’s daycare.
The video started with a woman addressing the ICE agent. The man then exited his vehicle and talked with the agent, saying that his kid was in a Minnesota daycare. The ICE agent immediately understood what the man was concerned about and said that they had just arrived. The man then questioned why their car was positioned directly toward the Minnesota daycare, a Spanish immersion facility, instead of being properly parked within the lines.
The ICE agent said that they weren’t there for the daycare and that they weren’t going to target the kids. When the parent demanded the ICE agent’s name, the agent refused to give it. The man said that federal agents had to share their name and ID number, but the ICE agents soon decided to just leave the area.
When the video was shared on Reddit, internet users were outraged that ICE agents were even near a daycare. Many didn’t see their responses as an overreaction, considering what had happened to the 5-year-old boy. “Literally child predators,” one user said.
The man in the video also replied in the comment section, saying that he had warned the staff members at the Minnesota daycare. He said that the ICE agents were clearly watching and staring at the building. He explained that he was actually about to leave when he saw the woman confronting the ICE agents. Afraid that she might get detained with no witnesses around, the man decided to back her up, and the events in the video happened afterward.
Another user said that ICE agents were clearly targeting daycares in Minnesota. They said that they even encountered some at their own daycare. “They have been monitoring my kid’s daycare too. Also, Spanish immersion. If I were to put together a plan to go after ‘the worst of the worst,’ daycare centers that require state-mandated background checks and are regularly audited would not be on my priority list,” the user explained.
Others mocked the ICE agents for being so defensive and secretive when being confronted for parking their car in front of the Minnesota daycare. “The projecting and gaslighting are real. Calling people agitators for asking what business some individuals who won’t identify themselves have in the parking lot of a daycare. S-tier handling by you all!” one user said.
