A group of people gathered for Charlie Kirk’s vigil in North Carolina, where a pastor led them in fighting for what he believes is right — a war against the Democratic Party. A video posted on Reddit showed the crowd cheering the pastor in a suit at intervals, clapping as he spoke. A keyboardist played solemn music in the background, giving weight to the sermon.
“I’m here first and foremost because of that man right over there in the ‘FREEDOM’ shirt and the rain camera,” the pastor began, referring to Mayor Rob Burns, whose picture appeared in the video. “We can’t have unity with people who want to kill us,” he urged. “The Democratic Party has been captured by a wicked and demonic ideology. It is evil, and we cannot make peace with that.”
Without relenting, he continued to press on with bold claims directed at the government. The pastor urged the responsive audience to place their expectations and demands on the three levels of government, insisting they should act accordingly. He then quoted Stephen Miller, saying:
“There is a vast domestic movement, and with God as my witness, we are going to use every resource we have throughout this government to identify, disrupt, dismantle, and destroy these networks, and we will do it in Charlie’s name.”
Turning back to the crowd, the pastor urged them as Christians to declare their faith. He then asked them to look back and read some words. Together, they echoed loudly, “In God we trust. In God we trust.” Spreading Christian nationalism, the preacher declared firmly:
“We must unapologetically work to make America Christian again. Because if we want to make America great again, there’s no way we do it without making America Christian again.”
Concluding his impassioned speech, he encouraged them never to let Kirk’s legacy die, calling for the tearing down of false gods of “abortion,” “homosexuality,” “transgenderism,” and “Marxism.” The video has since enraged online users who didn’t hesitate to call out the group in the comments section of the post. “God help us. I’m just scared for when they go full Nazi,” one person wrote.
Citing Christians as a threat to America, another added, “American Christians are a threat to democracy, and laws that ensure secularism need to be installed.” Another person commented candidly, “God, this makes me physically sick. It’s so dumb how the religious fanatics claiming to help the country forget SEPARATE CHURCH AND STATE.” Sarcastically pointing out the hypocrisy, someone remarked, “Tear down idols as they idolized CK.”
“Make no mistake, every single one of these ‘vigils’ or ‘memorials’ are a cover-up for Nazis to meet up. These are white supremacist rallies and need to be treated as such,” another added, calling it an opportunity for extremists to gather. Rejecting the Christian label for the group, one Redditor wrote, “These are NOT Christians, no matter what they say. They do not follow Jesus. They twist and use his words. They do not hear him. Love thy neighbor as thyself. They are Anti-Christians.”
Correcting the post’s caption, another commenter wrote bluntly, “They misspelled ‘A gathering of domestic terrorists’ as ‘vigil.’ Bless their hearts.”
“The only thing Jesus and Charlie have in common is that Christians get upset when you quote them to their face,” someone else chimed in.
