A recent video posted by Laura Smith of the Towamencin, Pennsylvania Township Board of Supervisors has sparked outrage after she appeared to make a Nazi salute during a video message posted on her Facebook page.
Video footage from the post, which was shared widely on Reddit by user, Euphoric-Worker9130 on the r/PublicFreakout page, shows Laura Smith speaking to her friends, patting her chest, and raising her arm in what many Redditors have described as a clear Nazi gesture. It’s almost the exact same gesture that X owner and Path of Exile 2 cheater Elon Musk used during Donald Trump’s Presidential Inauguration earlier this week. This is what she said in her video post.
“I’m just checking in on my friends, who are struggling this week. My heart goes out to you, hope you’re doing okay.”
The message above would be nice and sweet if the clear gesture and knowing smile weren’t there to make this an ugly moment for her. Reddit members are outraged and are now sending emails before the next township meeting in February.
“Oh great it’s already becoming the new let’s go brandon”, “Speak her name “Nazi Laura Smith of Towamencin PA board of supervisors” “They get off on it. They know what they’re doing and the fact that we all know what it is makes them feel better.”
Elon Musk himself caught a fair share of flak for his salute despite trying to play it off as a heartfelt gesture. Who knows how many more Karens, or Laura, in this case, will be empowered to follow him and make this salute a new trend?
