People are chomping at the bits over fast fashion and luxury shopping, choosing what’s in at a moment’s notice. Though popular clothing company LoveShackFancy denies it’s fast fashion and is instead premium, there have been reports over the years of cheap material usage at a high price that is made to appear better than it actually is in person. Now, a woman in Pennsylvania is angry with the company over clothing sent to her. It wasn’t the clothing itself, but the packaging.
Angela (@angelakp913 on TikTok) shared in her video an expensive dress arriving in a less-than-fancy package. The caption in her video reads, “POV: You treat yourself to a luxury dress from LoveShackFancy and get it in a ripped garbage bag.” She shows the dress, which is a Rialto Pastel Ruffle Maxi Dress costing $765. Though Angela only showed one side of the packaging in the video, which had a tear, she stated it’s far worse. The other side of the packaging was completely ripped open, revealing what was inside.
However, she was relieved to find the expensive dress was perfectly intact. The dress arrived in a ripped bag without a box. I know if I bought something that expensive, I’d want it in a steel box.
People believe LoveShackFancy has dropped in quality over the years after its mega growth. At a price point such as this, customers are sometimes surprised to find their clothing is made from cheap, synthetic fibers instead of natural ones, and I see this reflected among similar TikTok videos. As some commenters shared on Angela’s post, a $700 dress should be made of high-quality material.
Several viewers stated, based on what they’ve seen from the company, they are unsurprised by Angela’s experience. One person commented, “It’s a $20 dress that just had a $800 price tag with catchy marketing” which, unfortunately, is the nature of marketing. Another said, “Visited their flagship store – it’s criminal how much they overcharge for rough, cheap material.”
However, others had a positive experience and weren’t afraid to speak up about it. One defended the company, “Oh no their packaging are normally so good my hunter boots and Stanley was so pretty packaged.” And, if you look through TikTok’s showcase of the company, you’ll find other people having better experiences. I know sometimes I get Amazon packages that look like they’ve been kicked. Most of the time, the packaging is fine. Perhaps Angela had bad luck!
