There have been more and more reports of notoriously infamous individuals doing what they can to make the lives of others absolutely terrible. If you aren’t seeing a news report about ICE kidnapping someone, then you’re watching the KKK walk through the streets at your Halloween parage. This is the exact experience a Pennsylvania woman faced, forcing her to go to the internet to ask the question on all our minds: “why?” While I’m not surprised that this happened, it’s also incredibly telling that the people involved feel incredibly comfortable with what they’re doing under the current presidentail administration.
The above video was posted to the TikTok account @shagisabadword. It shows a woman talking about how she was going to her local township because of a distressing incident she had witnessed that day. Apparently, while attending her local Halloween parade in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania (that is a real place, I swear) she saw KKK members in the crowd. What’s worse is that thet were part of the Women of the Ku Klux Klan division and were passing out flyers to everyone, including children.
In fact, according to Local 21 News in Pennsylvania, a child was found with one of these flyers in their candy bag. The Women of the KKK responded, saying, “Some ladies have reached out and said they saw your local news story about a W.K.K.K. card that was supposedly put into a child’s candy container. We assure you that wasn’t the case at all. That’s not who we are. Children are precious and are not to be used as pawns. Not saying cards weren’t passed out in the local area. But not in that way. It is not illegal to belong to the Women of the K.K.K. Our mission is to help support our family, our community and our beloved country.”
Regardless of what the truth really is, it’s appalling to read any of the above in 2025. Commentators on the video agree, with one of the top comments saying, “That’s not the first time I heard about racist [expletive] in mechanicsburg. Pennsylvania is getting nasty.” Another commentator even explained that going to her localtownship would likely not yield any results, saying, “Youโll likely be asking some of the members themselves ๐ณ.”
At the end of the day, members of the KKK shouldn’t be able to walk freely and definitely not so in an area where children frequent. In an era where various hate groups are kidnaping people, it’s terrifying to imagine what could have happened if a child just so happened to be watched.
