Jimmy Kimmel is under intense fire after a fiery monologue targeting Donald Trump and the MAGA movement, made in the wake of conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination, ignited a storm of backlash across social media, with critics now demanding that ABC and Disney cancel the late-night host immediately. On Monday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the host aimed at Trump and his supporters, saying, “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them…”
He then mocked Trump’s public response to Kirk’s death, in which Trump pivoted from expressing grief to boasting about a new White House ballroom. Kimmel quipped, “He’s at the fourth stage of grief—construction. This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish.” But the audience’s laughter didn’t translate online. Instead, the comments section turned into a wildfire of outrage.
Jimmy Kimmel Slammed As Fans Call For Career Cancellation
The reaction to Kimmel’s monologue was swift and unforgiving. One user bluntly stated, “I hope this ends his career,” while another wrote, “He is next to go,” a comment that quickly spread across X (formerly Twitter) as both a warning and rallying cry. Many commenters expressed disbelief that Kimmel’s longtime friend and former co-host Adam Carolla hadn’t publicly distanced himself, speculating that “unless it’s all an act, and Adam is in on it,” their friendship no longer made sense. Others lamented that this “is not the same guy who did The Man Show,” calling Kimmel unrecognizable from his earlier TV days.
Another comment said, “Disney will never fire him, probably give him a raise,” highlighting the growing skepticism about whether the network will take any real action. “I still haven’t seen an answer for why he flipped the script and started going so hard for the left,” another frustrated viewer added. One commenter said they had officially ended their interest in watching him altogether, while another coldly remarked, “This isn’t comedy. It’s just disgraceful.”
Charges Filed in Kirk’s Murder
As outrage over Jimmy Kimmel’s monologue rages online, the legal proceedings surrounding Charlie Kirk’s assassination are also escalating. On Tuesday, prosecutors formally charged 22-year-old Tyler Robinson with aggravated murder, announcing they intend to pursue the death penalty. Robinson is accused of fatally shooting the conservative commentator during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University just six days ago, a brazen act of political violence that sent shockwaves through the country.

Rather than proceeding with a traditional grand jury indictment, Utah County prosecutors filed charges using an information document. This legal path allows prosecutors to charge a suspect directly, but it also triggers a probable cause hearing, where a judge will soon decide whether there’s enough evidence to move the case forward. And the evidence appears substantial.
According to the newly filed charging document, investigators have recovered DNA evidence from the suspected murder weapon, linking it directly to Robinson. Even more damning, officials say Robinson sent a text message confessing to the crime, a development that may have sealed his fate before his first court appearance. Robinson appeared remotely via video link on Tuesday, showing no emotion as the charges were read aloud. In addition to aggravated murder, he also faces charges of felony discharge of a firearm, obstruction of justice, and witness tampering.
New Details Emerge in Charlie Kirk Murder Case
Authorities believe the suspect was turned in by someone close to him, and surveillance video released last week shows Robinson fleeing from a rooftop moments after the shooting. The case is already drawing national attention, and with prosecutors pushing for the death penalty, it’s clear they intend to send a message.

So far, neither ABC nor Disney has addressed the backlash. Kimmel has also remained silent as hashtags calling for his cancellation gain traction across social media. “Comedy has a limit,” one post read. “You don’t joke about a man being murdered and you definitely don’t mock someone’s grief over it.”
