We’ve all seen all kinds of outrageous things happening at the hands of ICE officers, but the latest situation occurred in Phoenix. Shared by a Reddit user, this video shows ICE officers in Arizona arriving with a massive armored vehicle and throwing flashbang grenades to arrest a 61-year-old man. We all know that ICE is going hard in all corners of the country, causing waves of panic everywhere, but some cases, such as this one, are on the overkill side.
Shared by user Odlavso in the r/PublicFreakout subreddit, we can see an armored ICE vehicle arriving at a neighborhood in Phoenix, Arizona, to arrest an old man. Soon after, other vehicles roll in, and the ICE agents throw a flashbang grenade on the ground, and the video cuts a bit here. Once the video starts rolling again, the one filming starts asking the officer, “Where’s the warrant?” But the agent doesn’t reply. The video keeps rolling and just shows another officer telling the person filming to back up.
According to AZCentral, ICE arrested Alfonso Vega, 61. For a senior, this kind of movement by ICE was overkill, and other Reddit users agreed on that.
It is scary to see these situations pop up almost anywhere in the country. Trump’s immigration policies are causing panic, not only to immigrants but also to those living legally in the country. Other users also talked about how citizens’ taxes are being used to pull these stunts, which feel highly unnecessary.
During the interview with AZCentral, Natally Cruz, the director of Puente Arizona, had something to say about the matter. “I felt like it was a way of terrorizing the community and saying one way or another, we are going to get inside your house.”
Sadly, it doesn’t seem like things will slow down anytime soon. We’ve seen a lot of ICE-related situations, which only get worse daily. Ultimately, these arrests cause a lot of ripples and affect innocent people. If things don’t slow down, nationwide fear will occur, and things will go bad for all citizens.
