There are plenty of times when I’ve experienced secondhand embarrassment because of someone else’s actions. However, I’ve never felt it for employees at a restaurant because of how a manager made them feel. Fortunately, a customer managed to capture a situation where a pizza shop manager was physically and verbally belittling her chefs and employees in front of other customers. The whole thing was then reposted to Reddit for everyone to see and judge for themselves.
The video depicts a man and a woman at the front of the house at a pizza shop. Throughout the entirety of the video, the woman takes orders from customers while then belittling her employees for various reasons. Many of the comments she makes to her associates is that they will deal with the specific order. It is unclear if she is saying this because she is angry at the amount of customers she has or because she feels that the employees can’t do their jobs. Regardless, no one should talk to anyone that way, let alone in public when you’re trying to run a business.
Fortunately, many commenters agreed with me, feeling she was abusing those workers. Realistically, you don’t need to watch the entirety of the video to get an inkling that something might be really wrong here.
“No way I’d stay for that abuse.”
Some commenters feel that the employee belittling the chef might have something to do with the workers being undocumented. There is no proof that that was the case here, but several comments included links to new articles about restaurant owners being imprisoned for forced labor of undocumented workers. Regardless of what happened, no one deserves to be treated that way because not only is it incredibly embarrassing, but it’s also extremely unprofessional. If no one said anything to a manager or someone from the corporate offices (assuming this restaurant has one), then I’m glad this video exists to prove that this happened.
