Publishers Days of Wonder and Asmodee have recently announced a partnership with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation to produce a new pink train set for their popular board game Ticket To Ride. Take a look:
Established in 1993, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation has raised more than half a billion dollars for breast cancer research, along with $40 million of funding for scientists and universities over the past year. They are also the highest-rated breast cancer charity in the US, according to Charity Watch, so you can be confident that your donations are being used wisely.
The trains come in that signature pink-ribbon color and are sure to add some variety to this board game staple. If you haven’t played it yet, it might be worth considering joining the 80 million other players who have choo-choo-chosen to add it to their collection. Easy to learn with tons of replayability, it’s perfect for both the family and your more competitive friends. It’s also won a trainload of prizes: 37 awards to date, including game of the year from Spiel des Jahres. If that doesn’t mean much to you, just trust me when I say: it’s fun.
If you’re low on space around the house, or just don’t want the hassle of having to set up a physical board game and pieces every time you play, you could also check out Ticket To Ride on iOS, Steam, or any number of consoles. Porting physical board games to digital spaces is becoming more and more popular, although it does mean missing out on all the fun collectibles.
As you might expect, this edition is limited. You can purchase it at the Asmodee store, and at only $5 each (with $2 of every purchase going towards research), it seems likely that it won’t be long until this train leaves the station. The release will coincide with Pink October, a month of events that features several exciting fundraising activities.
