It looks like fans of Limbo and Inside won’t have to wait nearly as long for the next game from Playdead. The masters of dark, atmospheric games sent out a tweet this morning announcing that they are working on a “new adventure”. They even released a screenshot along with the tweet!

Playdead New

Playdead sent out a tweet saying, “Thanks for your warm reception of INSIDE. Since release, Playdead founder Arnt Jensen and the team have been working on the next adventure.” Fans of Limbo had to wait 6 years before Inside, a game previously announced at E3 in 2014, was finally released. Playdead, obviously,  heard the cries of their fans and we won’t be waiting nearly as long for their next project. From the screenshot above, we can see the game shares a very similar color scheme to its predecessors.  Thankfully, it looks like we’re in for another muted, atmospheric adventure.

So, what can we gather from the above image? The consensus is the next game from Playdead looks like it will take place on an alien planet. Now, this is all speculation but I can totally see it. Our, assumed, main character does appear to be wearing a space helmet and suit with a tattered parachute trailing behind him. It’s hard to miss the beautifully illustrated comet (?) soaring overhead and the sandy, rocky terrain of the environment.

It looks like Playdead is still going strong after their co-founder, Dino Patti, left with a $7 million dollar settlement after the release of Inside. And that’s something we can all be thankful for! While all of the details are pretty much completely unknown, the screenshot raises some pretty interesting possibilities for Playdead’s next game!  What do you think about the screenshots? Do you see the potential exploration of an alien planet, or perhaps, something else? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
