Taking your dog out for a day at the park is meant to be a great experience, right? Fresh air, sunshine, beautiful scenery… what could possibly go wrong? Well, a video from Florida was recently posted on TikTok, and it showed how letting your dog off the leash can create an absolute headache for the owner, especially when the pooch is having so much fun it has no intention of going home.
This happened to one pet owner during a trip to Lake Eola Park in Florida, and the evidence was recorded for the world to see. The short clip, uploaded by TikTok user thewhimsywifey, shows the dog running away from everyone and successfully evading capture. His owner tries various tricks and tactics to recapture his pet, but the dog is too quick and loves swimming in the lake.
This Is Not What You Want To Happen When You Take Your Dog Out
There is even one moment when, in sheer desperation, the man hides behind a pole. For a while, his dog appears really calm, and you think to yourself: ‘OK, he has finally got it.’ But nope!
Although the event was likely unpleasant for the dog’s owners, it entertained many people who were also trying to enjoy an outing to the lake. TikToker thewhimsywifey shared what was happening in the caption of her post. “We left after 45 minutes watching this drama at Lake Eola in Orlando today. The dog made so many people laugh, and despite the trouble, he was having a blast,” she wrote.
The reaction to the Florida post has been mixed. Some people are furious that the dog was able to run free for so long and have blasted its owners for “horrible dog ownership,” while others think that the footage is incredibly amusing. “Whole time the dog can’t believe this many people want to play with him,” a person wrote, followed by a laughing face emoji. “The guy hiding behind the pole has me deaddd,” another person reacted.
Other reactions include “The pain of trying to catch a dog that thinks you are plying a game,” and “100 men vs. 1 dog” (the last comment is a playful reference to the viral question making its rounds on the internet about 100 men vs. 1 gorilla).
The video attracted a lot of attention, and the dog’s owner found it and reacted. We know from their comment that their pooch is named Lovey, and they finally got home. “We knew that someone would create a post eventually. After hours of excitement at Lake Eola, Lovey is home safe,” the comment reads.
If you want to avoid a situation like this, you’d better keep your dog on a leash!
