‘Please Talk About Real Issues’: Critics Fed Up as Florida Sen. Ashley Moody Warns of Democrats’ ‘Socialist Agenda’

They have had enough

Voters were miffed on Monday after Florida Sen. Ashley Moody shared a clip from a recent Fox News interview on X, in which she spent time throwing jabs at the Democratic Party. The Republican claimed that the Left was being taken over by what she described as an “anarchist socialist agenda” and that the GOP needed to be “incredibly aggressive” about getting their message across to voters before November.

Moody, however, faced pushback from critics. Many accused her of relying on scare tactics to push voters to her side instead of talking about issues affecting everyday Floridians.

During the interview, Moody claimed that the Democratic Party is no longer what it once was. She pointed specifically to the growing influence of democratic socialists within the party, arguing that the movement has gone beyond a small faction of individuals who want to be “subversive to what the American people have known for 250 years.”

The senator stated that voters are now left to choose between policies that support their freedom and safety and those her opponents are touting, which, according to her, would “undermine” both.

“We have to start communicating to our voters, not just Republicans, independents, Democrats, that this is a pro-America, pro-freedom, pro-individual rights, pro-safety versus everything that would undermine that, meaning abolish prisons, defund the military, non-citizen voting,” Moody stated.

The Republican candidate is fighting to keep her Senate seat and serve out the remaining two years of her term. After easily winning the Republican primary this month, Moody will face Democratic nominee Angie Nixon in the general election.

Critics Tell Moody to Focus on ‘Real Issues’

Moody’s characterization of Democrats as embracing an anarchist and socialist agenda drew backlash in the comments under her post on X. Some people questioned why so much of her campaign messaging appeared to focus on attacking the opposing party.

“Man do you have your own ideas without constantly blaming the democrats,” one person asked. Another wrote, “Please talk about real issues. The socialist talk will not put food on the table or money in Floridians pockets.”

A third said, “Capitalism has placed America 40 trillion dollars in debt. Instead of being honest these politicians cry socialism and communism to scare the working class.” A fourth added, “Enough of this hypocrisy – anyone who is against socialism should not use public schools, Medicare, Medicaid, public water companies…. And social security!”

Someone else defended Democrats, saying, “Democrats wanna help the american people get ahead in life. You guys don’t.”

Several others said they were unmoved by Moody’s claims and would be casting their votes for her opponent, Nixon. “Everytime you tweet makes me want to vote for Angie Nixon,” one commenter remarked. Another challenged Moody to “name everything that would undermine safety and freedom in Angie Nixon’s policies. Your scare tactics aren’t working.” A third added, “We will take our chances with Angie Nixon.”

Moody’s opponent has centered much of her Senate campaign on economic issues affecting working families. According to The Guardian, Nixon has backed Medicare for All, a federal minimum wage bump to $25 an hour, and stronger tenant protections. She has also pushed to keep corporate funds out of politics and impose higher taxes on billionaires.

Although her affiliation with the Democratic Socialists of America has been a bone of contention, she has described herself as more of a “social democrat” and said she does not agree with the organization on everything.
