King’s Rock has a long history within the Pokemon franchise. In almost any iteration of the games after the second generation, you can use it to evolve Slowpoke into Slowking and Poliwhirl into Politoed. I always remember heading to Slowpoke Well to find and use the stone to get Politoed in Pokemon Crystal. Now I can relive that same memory in Pokemon Go, getting the King’s Rock for myself! Let’s take a look at where you can find one of your own so you, too, can evolve your Pokemon.
Where to Find King’s Rock in Pokemon Go
[Updated on June 14, 2024 – updated images and acquisition steps]
You can find King’s Rock in Pokemon Go by defeating Gyms, spinning Pokestops, defeating Team GO Rocket Grunts, and completing specific Field Research Tasks. If you plan to use the RNG method, then know that it only has a 1% drop rate. There’s no guaranteed method of getting the evolutionary stone; one must rely on luck to find it.
How to Use King’s Rock
Once you have it, here’s how you can use the rock crown:
- Press the PokeBall icon at the bottom of the screen when in-game.
- Press the Pokemon option.
- Press the Pokemon that you want to evolve.
- Under the Power Up option, press the Evolve selection.
- For Poliwhirl, you must also have 100 Candies.
- For Slowpoke, you must also have 50 Candies.
A short cutscene will then be displayed, and you’ll have your new Pokemon.
What Pokemon Uses King’s Rock to Evolve?
Using the King’s Rock, you can only evolve Poliwhirl into Politoed and Slowpoke into Slowking. That’s true regardless of your Pokemon game. You can only evolve those two Pokemon using the stone, so they unfortunately won’t help with your Mewtwo and Ho-Oh.
