Mostly with the new generation, a slew of new colorful Pokemon are added to the series overall mythos, but Meltak was introduced as part of the Pokemon GO and Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee and Pikachu.
Shiny Meltan was available only for a short period of time, but there is still a way to catch one in Pokemon GO. To get a Maltan, you need to link your Nintendo Account with Pokemon GO and a Pokemon Home account. The only time you can catch a Shiny Meltan is during special events.
In Pokemon GO, most of the Shiny Pokemon keep their shininess after the event ends, but this is not the case for Meltan. The only time you can actually catch a Shiny Meltan is when a special event is ongoing in the game.
Shiny Meltan began to appear in the game when Pokemon GO was celebrating its 5th anniversary. Meltan only appears for the players that have access to the Mystery Box item. To get a Mystery Box, you have to link your Pokemon GO to a Nintendo Account that should also be linked to Pokemon Home.

Then you have to transfer a Pokemon to the Home app, although bear in mind that whichever Pokemon you choose to send over will not return to Pokemon GO. Then the item will exclusively spawn Meltan on the map for one hour. If you couldn’t catch the Shiny Meltan, then you have to wait 3 days to send another Pokemon to use the box again.
So the best way is to use the Mystery Box and solely focus on capturing Meltan. Although the Shiny form will be taken away once the anniversary ends on the 15th, so don’t miss your chance.
