Several notable celebrities were spotted attending Game 4 of the World Series at the Dodgers Stadium in LA, with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle among them. Many Sussex followers were surprised that Archie and Lilibet weren’t there, considering how many see a baseball game as a family event. The reason would have likely been that Meghan and Harry were on a “date night,” according to her latest Instagram Story. But what shocked many online users was the group of security guards that led the Sussexes into the stadium.
“The amount of security is ridiculous. They are legends in their own mind,” remarked a TikTok user on the video shared by Entertainment Tonight. “It’s all about the parade. The thing getting protected the most is their egos,” added another. “It’s a clown parade,” sarcastically clarified a third. One reply pointed out that the “security team” might actually be Meghan’s personal management team, rather than a group solely of bodyguards. Still, many found the idea of waltzing into a baseball game with security and a team to be excessive.
“Brad Pitt was there, he didn’t alert photographers, didn’t draw attention to himself,” said a commenter. Donald Glover, Sydney Sweeney, and LeBron James were present as well, but certainly didn’t make their support for the Dodgers a big deal like Harry and Meghan, critics say. “Everything they do is a stunt,” complained one Redditor. One group of commenters was upset that a police officer was among those escorting the Sussexes into the stadium. “They should not be getting American tax-payed security,” remarked one user.
Prince Harry was put on blast not too long ago after reportedly demanding that the UK Prime Minister help him in his endeavor to get King Charles to provide taxpayer-funded security. That security would be funded by British citizens. And while many people in the UK are not supportive of that idea, a few Californians are naturally upset that any bit of their taxes would go into keeping Harry and Meghan safe on their date night. Not to mention, the Sussexes have been outspoken about wanting more privacy, yet it’s ironic when they pull public stunts like this.
Considering Prince Harry’s determination to continue his battle against the courts in the UK to get his special security as royalty, it’s likely to be a common sight for security to be present whenever he and Meghan are out and about.
