It might come as a hot take, but the DMZ mode alongside the Raid missions were my favorite parts of Modern Warfare 2022. But you thought that game mode was long gone, right? Well, turns out the Call of Duty DMZ mode might return in 2026, and it’d probably come with the new game being developed by Infinity Ward, presumably Modern Warfare 4.
Black Ops 6 is a ride full of joy with round-based Zombies this year. Not long until we get the 4th Zombies map of this game in less than half of its life cycle, the so-called “3rd mode” of the new Black Ops game is killing it. Infinity Ward, on the other hand, went with its own free Co-Op experience three years ago called the DMZ and it wasn’t that bad, to be honest.
I remember playing long hours with friends trying to complete faction missions in the darkness of the Koschei Complex while other teams were tracking us to steal our gold-worthy weapon’s case. But then MW3 switched over to Zombies to feature the undead in a Modern Warfare game for the first time, and it was just, awful. So, what’s next for Modern Warfare?
Leaked by the prominent insider TheGhostOfHopes on X, Call of Duty‘s extraction shooter DMZ will most probably return in 2026. It’s also been claimed that this game is Modern Warfare 4, further confirming that the CoD 2025 is none other than Black Ops 7 or whatever Treyarch is calling it this time.
Now there’s one thing to consider about this new DMZ iteration, and that’s the fact that it’s been mentioned as the 3rd game mode of Call of Duty 2026. So, would it be behind the paywall for the game’s full price? Or Does it come with that year’s Warzone integration? According to the leaker, the Raid missions are probably integrated in this new DMZ mode making it more likely to be a part of Modern Warfare 4 and not the free-to-play Warzone.
