The Power Rangers are known for punching and kicking a bunch of people. The characters in Street Fighter are also known for punching and kicking a bunch of people. Only natural then, that the two sets of characters cross over and interact, in the most recent Power Rangers game, Battle for the Grid. While it means that the ideal dream of seeing a Power Ranger beat the living daylights out of M. Bison, or E. Honda is on hold for now, we will get to see a couple of Street Fighter characters come to the world of Battle for the Grid… sorta, via the Street Fighter Pack, one of the many DLC packs that will be included in the newly announced Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid Super Edition.
Making their way across universes are iconic Street Fighter characters Ryu and Chun-Li. Both characters sport their own Ranger gear, so at first glance, you might not have clocked that they are who they are with a helmet on. Both characters feature their signature movesets from the Street Fighter series, so Chun-Li’s kicks and Ryu’s Hadouken are fully realized here. In the pack are alternate costumes for both characters themed around the Rangers’ school-based origins.
That’s a good sign, but that’s not all that’s happening with Battle of the Grid – the Super Edition mentioned above coming with all the previously-released DLC thus far, including this new Street Fighter Pack. The Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid Super Edition will cost $49.99, and will launch on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and Google Stadia digitally on May 25, and physically in August. Otherwise, players can buy the Street Fighter Pack for $12.50, or $5.99 per character.
By the logic at the start, we should see some Mortal Kombat crossovers any time soon. The Mortal Kombat movie was recently released, and it was surprisingly decent. Have you seen it, or played Battle for the Grid? Leave a comment.
