The long-running Power Rangers series from BOOM! Studios and Hasbro are officially ending this July. The upcoming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Darkest Hour #1 will serve as a series finale for the eight-year adventure. It comes from writer Melissa Flores and artist Simona Di Gianfelice. It also features colors from Raul Angulo and a ton of gorgeous variant covers. While Darkest Hour is the climactic conclusion to the Power Rangers series, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #122 is the official final issue of the main series. Fans can grab both issues this July.

According to an official synopsis for Darkest Hour, everything ends in these pages. With the Morphin Grid in peril, the Earth and all its inhabitants have no Power Rangers to protect them. Get ready for the ultimate battle against Dark Specter, where anything can happen. A group of rogues, villains, and Rangers are working together to stop the end of everything. However, if they do manage to win, can they rebuild all that has been destroyed?

While this may be the end of this series, it is not the end of the Power Rangers at BOOM! Studios. The studio teased that more Power Ranger announcements are on the horizon, especially for this year’s SDCC.

Creating The End Of The Power Rangers Series

Speaking about the dramatic end of this long-running series, writer Melissa Flores talks about how big of a task this is. For almost two years, this event served as one of the biggest tasks of her career. However, while it was a major task, Flores enjoyed every single heart-wrenching minute. While the scribe admits that she put the Rangers through the ringer throughout this series, this finale should make up for that. In fact, she hopes the ending is as satisfying for the reader as it was for her to write.

Meanwhile, veteran Power Ranger series artist Simona Di Gianfelice is excited for this project for multiple reasons. Especially for the opportunity to work with Flores. Even though the writer has kept everyone in suspense, the artist is sure she is going to surprise all of us again.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Darkest Hour #1 is on sale 07/31.
