Amy Jo Johnson, co-writer for BOOM! Studio’s upcoming The Return series, has revealed the identity of the new Green Ranger. Johnson, who played the Pink Power Ranger in the original television show, took to social media for the unmasking. She showed off the new Ranger, Olivia Hart, through artwork designed by Dan Mora. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return is co-written by Johnson alongside Matt Hotson with artwork from Nico Leon.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return
This new comic will be a limited series of four issues. The limited series is currently being backed up on Kickstarter. However, its $50,000 goal was quickly reached. As of this writing, the project has netted over $400,000 and still has 14 days to go. It has a tentative release date of December 2024.
According to the project’s Kickstarter page, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return will tell the tale of an alternate history of the original Power Rangers. In this new reality, the Rangers were able to stop Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd for good. However, this victory comes at a hefty cost, and the heroes face severe consequences.
Just The Beginning
Olivia Hart will debut as the new Green Ranger in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return. She dons a Green Ranger suit almost identical to the one featured in previous iterations. Meanwhile, outside of her suit, Hart keeps it casual in jeans, a black crop top, and a green jacket with a pink stripe. Plus, alongside the new artwork, Johnson commented that this new series will be a love letter from her to all the fans.
This new series was previously teased as part of BOOM! Studios 30th anniversary special for the franchise. Then, the series made its debut in a prologue in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: 30th Anniversary Special #1. Now, it will officially enter the Power Rangers mythos next year.
