AMC has recently announced that Preacher, will be returning on June 25th. The supernatural drama premiered its first season on May 22nd in 2016 and received largely positive reviews. The series was officially renewed back in June by AMC and expanded to 13 episodes for the second season. According to AMC, season two “follows Texas preacher Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) as they embark on a road trip to find God. Along the way, they’re thrusted into a twisted battle spanning Heaven, Hell, and everywhere in between.”

The events throughout season one and finale are what set our cast of characters on the road trip for season two. Jesse becomes possessed by an entity known as Geneis. This entity is from the unholy union of an angel and a demon. With this possession, Jesse discovers an ability to make people do whatever he wishes…as if he speaks the word of God. Two angels from heaven, Fiore and Deblanc show up and try to return Genisis to its rightful place. When they are unable to do so, they travel to hell to release the Saint of Killers. Jesse discovers that God has left heaven and sets out with his new friend and an old flame to find him.

The Nerd Stash reviewed the complete first season, the review for the “Pilot” episode can be found here.
